I honestly did not care which school I went to. Ventura was good because that’s where all my friends from De Anza are going. Buena was good because that’s where the rest of my friends are going and Foothill was good because that’s where all the clever people go.

It was my parents who decided for me. I would have preferred Ventura but I knew if I went to Foothill I would get smart. They entered the lottery and won. All of my friends at De Anza were jealous because they all had to go to Ventura or Buena. My teachers were jealous too or at least they pretended to be.

The summer was long and boring so I was sad and glad when I finally got to school orientation. When I saw we had to go under a parachute I thought “Oh no. It’s one of those schools”. I spent the day trying to find people I knew whilst also getting lost looking for my classes. I met all of my teachers and they all seemed nice. I was very nervous going to school on the first day, even though I already knew some people. I saw my neighbor Hannah and talked to her and my hipster cousin’s hipster friend who I am sharing a P.E locker with. We had to fill out a different form about ourselves about 20 times. I was utterly disappointed when I found out I have Algebra 7th period.

Now that I have been at this school for nearly two months now I can safely say it is really hard. I have already had about sixty tests. My homework is keeping me from doing more important things like lying around and doing nothing all day. It is not all bad though, at least I am learning important stuff for my future (although if my future is this hard I might just work at KFC instead.). I have already made a few new friends and my teachers have been okay.

Unless I tragically die sometime between now and 2017 I will spend the next four years of my life here at Foothill. I just hope they are going to be worth it.
